Drawing from his background of performing with legends in Jazz like Ron Carter and Jimmy Heath as well as his experience working with Latin giants such as Eddie Palmieri and Arturo O’Farrill, David DeJesus has created something special with his debut album – DRIVE. Featuring lyrical melodies that float on top of complex song forms, the most distinctive aspect to DRIVE is definitely the unique grooves found throughout the album. These grooves, which include combinations of Samba, Bomba, Afro, Rumba, Ferro, and Son Montuno, are only made possible by the stellar bandmates David selected for this album. Donald Vega, Luques Curtis, and E.J. Strickland, all young veterans of both traditional Jazz and Latin Jazz, come together on this album under the leadership of David DeJesus to create beautiful music that appeals to both the discerning Jazz fan as well as the casual listener.
