Founded in 2012, the Connecticut Jazz Studio (CJS) was created to serve Fairfield County with high quality Jazz education and performances. Director David DeJesus, a Grammy-award winning multi-instrumentalist, is passionate about sharing his love for Jazz with aspiring young students and resident fans of music. With programs ranging from private lessons in woodwind and brass performance to improvisation and composition workshops to educational performances and concerts featuring world-class musicians, CJS strives to spread the joy of Jazz and create a community of students and jazz fans from all over Fairfield County.
Jazz is a passed down art form where master players take on proteges and mentor them in the art of improvisation and composition. David DeJesus and the CJS continues that tradition with highly structured weekly private lessons that are custom tailored to each individual student. Past students have gone on to All-State festivals in New York and Connecticut as well as acceptance into major conservatories including Julliard, Manhattan School of Music, The New School, New York University, Oberlin, and Purchase College.
